The is the back road that Keith takes to work every day. It crosses a river, so it was flooded really badly. I don't know how high a stop sign is, but obviously, there are many feet of water covering this road.
A nice duck family enjoying the water!
So, as you can see, the water here is an incredible sight. The water you are seeing in these pictures is all about a half-mile from our house. We live in a neighborhood on a hill above this water. So, you can imagine, the people who live in town or at even lower elevations lost entire homes, etc. It's very sad. We know quite a few people who were evactuated from their homes in boats and have not yet been able to go home.
Keith's parents' house is also okay as far as we know. They are not there though. Hopefully they will return tonight or tomorrow. They live on a lagoon, and many of their neighbors had water covering their entire walk-out basement levels. We have not heard details about his extended family yet. We hope no news is good news!
The water has receeded a great deal (unfortunate for the people south of us who are now experiencing this flooding) so we are hopeful that we can drink the tap water and get into town tomorrow. Hopefully the storms that are coming this evening don't dump too much more water on our town.
